Done. Sort of.

Book No. 2 (still untitled) is done. That is to say, the first draft is done. It came in around 65,000 words and after the first set of revisions (tightening, cutting out unnecessary words), it'll go down slightly. After tightening, though, I tend to expand certain scenes, so I think the book will ultimately end up somewhere around 70,000 words.

I love these two characters. David and Calleigh were a ridiculous amount of fun to write.

Writing, Editing, and Revising

As I try and finish my first draft of Book No. 2 (which I'm starting to worry will forever remain untitled), I realize that I am less of a "writer" and more of a "reviser."  I think this is due in part, to the fact that the way I write is to not stop until I've hit 1,000 words for the day.  Some days/nights when the words and scenes are flowing well, this means that I easily hit more than the goal.  Other days, it's a struggle simply to reach the 1,000, but I know that regardless of how many words I leave on the page for the day, I know that I will always return to the page during the rounds of edits/revisions and will revise the paragraphs, often somewhat extensively.  

Book Two News-Sort of

So, the second book in the Portland Tide series is about 85% complete for its first draft.  I still have no title and I'm sure that I'll be extensively revising, but it's coming together.  Now, if I can just sell it...
